Description:
Fuchs Hydrotherm 68 LW RED Fire Resistant Hydraulic & Lubricating Oil
Lead Time Warning:
Please note that some industrial and commercial products are made to order and therefore have an extended lead time. For exact delivery timescales get in touch with the Opie Oils team.
HYDROTHERM 68 LW RED is a specially formulated, new generation water glycol based fire resistant hydraulic fluid that combines safety in operation with
exceptional anti-wear / extreme pressure (EP/AW) performance surpassing results previously possible from conventional water glycol fluids. It complies with the ISO Fluid HFC – E Classification.
Application:
HYDROTHERM 68 LW RED may be used in a wide variety of equipment utilising various hydraulic pumps including vane, gear and axial piston types operating over a wide temperature and pressure range.
This fluid may be used in hydraulic systems where the use of conventional mineral hydraulic oil would pose a serious fire risk, such as Die Casting, Foundries, Steel Works and Mining.
Method of Use:
To change over from mineral oil, drain and clean the system thoroughly. Drain and clean out the reservoir and drain and blow out all pipelines. Clean valves and remove pumps, accumulators and cylinders for draining where practicable.
Approximately half fill the system with HYDROTHERM 68 LW RED and run for 24 hours under no load conditions, operating all functions of the hydraulic system. Drain thoroughly and discard this flushing charge. Charge the system to half full and operate the system. Sample the fluid to ensure the flushing procedure has been successful and then fill to the correct operating capacity.
Start-up:
When starting up a new hydraulic system or after switching from mineral oil to HYDROTHERM 68 LW RED, the hydraulic system should be “run-in” for at least one hour at reduced pressure (20 to 40 bar).
Fluid Maintenance:
Some slight water loss from the fluid can be expected over prolonged use dependent upon operating temperature and system breathing. A reduction of the water content will increase the viscosity of the fluid. The water content of HYDROTHERM 68 LW RED should be between min. 15% and max. 25%. Thus, regular samples of the fluid should be taken to check that the water content is maintained above 15% to ensure that satisfactory fire resistance is maintained. FUCHS offer a full condition monitoring service both on and off site.
